Millburn Township is planning to purchase the land that the Paper Mill Playhouse is built on and lease back to them at a rate that will allow them to stay open. This will cost the taxpayers $9 million. The reason why the Playhouse is in trouble? Mismanagement. The solution would have been to change the management of the Playhouse, not to rely on the township to bail them out. This is where the free market is supposed to decide who succeeds and who fails, not the government.
