US Is On A Nationalizing Binge

The US federal government is considering the nationalization of the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae because of the stumbling in their share values and instability. The problem with this, even though it should be obvious is as follows straight from the NY Times (I know, but they got this one right):

the shares of Fannie and Freddie would be worth little or nothing, and any losses on mortgages they own or guarantee — which could be staggering — would be paid by taxpayers.

This one of Bush's worst ideas, and that is saying something when it comes to Bush. The Republican's seem to be in a nationalizing binge. Charlie Crist, Republican Governor of Florida, recently decided to buy US Sugar at the same time that corn syrup is sky rocketing in price. And what has just happened a week ago... sugar in the US has gone up in price. And what is Governor Crist's plan for US Sugar? To shut it down and let the Everglades engulf it, though know it has been analyzed and will cost a lot of money to "undevelop" the land which will mean higher taxes for the state.

These Republican's are using socialist methods to carry out a twisted conservative agenda. And the Democrats and applauding them for it. If anything proves that there is little difference between the parties it is the vote on the FISA bill along with everything else that has been going on during the last year.

We live in a sad state of affairs.
